What is the difference between DIY and measured, designed and installed services?
The difference is with the measured and installed services is that you are paying for the expertise of our measurer and installer. This includes information about which product is most suitable for what you desire it to do, how the product will be made and how it will be installed. With the supply only service these decisions need to be made by you. You must know how to measure the opening or area where you will install the product and also what allowances you need to make to be able to install it into this space. You also need to know how to secure and support the product safely for its use and how to secure and support the product safely for its use.
Can you measure for us to install?
Normally No. The reason is that with our measured and installed service we also take responsibility for ensuring mistakes have not been made during manufacture. If the product is not made correctly when we go to install it, we take responsibility and rectify these errors. Another reason we install everything we have measured is the various and numerous ways products can be installed. If you try to install a product in a different way to how our measurer has designed it for you, then it may not fit correctly. Therefore we prefer to send our installer, with his knowledge and understanding of how products are designed, to install all work designed by the measurer.
Do you do repairs?
Yes, depending on the damage of course. Repairs and remakes can be done either on-site or at our factory. Simple common repairs include re-meshing your screens or making like products when yours have passed their used-by dates. Before any repair work we will inspect the products you have bought us. If we notice something which would be unwise to repair (such as corrosion), and believe it’s best to remake the product we will let you know before we attempt any repair work. We can also provide parts for those who are wishing to do their own repair work.
My door won’t lock or I’ve lost my key. Can you fix it?
We are happy to provide a service where we can visit your home and our installer will inspect your lock, fix or replace, or adjust your door to get it functioning again. We can also provide parts for you to do it yourself.
Do you make your products or buy them in from other companies or countries?
We make the majority of fly-screen, all security and metal awning products in our Lismore factory as well as some blind products. The remainder of our products are sourced through Australian manufacturers where possible. Some items or parts of items are made outside of Australia. Every effort is made to limit these items as we believe in manufacturing items as locally as possible.
Do you service my area?
We service a large area with our free measure and quote service. this same area is where we install at no extra charge. This area covers Evans Head, Lismore, Casino, Kyogle, Coraki, Alstonville, Nimbin, Ballina, Byron Bay, Bangalow, Mullumbimby, Ocean Shores and everywhere in-between.
If you live outside this area we can still come to you. It will cost you a small amount for the measure, design and quote to help cover the cost of fuel to your location, depending on distance. You will not be required to go ahead with the work as this quote is still obligation free. Please give us a call and we can talk about this with you and let you know how much this will cost you.
Do you deal in second hand products?
No we don’t. Usually these products are well past their used-by dates and therefore are not worth salvaging. This is mostly due to breakage and/or damage which made them unsuitable for their intended purpose in the first place. We can offer you new parts and sections to create your projects if you are not looking for made up products. Please contact us for more information.
Security and Flyscreens:
What options are there for getting fly or security screens?
There are three main types of screening. Each has various options and adaptations to suit almost every window or doorway as well as the use these products will be given such as that pet trying to scratch a hole and allowing you to open your window on the other side of your screen. We offer the following types of screening:
- Flyscreens – offers protection from bugs and insects. NOT a security product.
- Diamond grills – security and bug protection in a two part product with diamond security grill and separate bug screening integrated with the grill.
- SupaScreens – security and bug protection in an all in one security woven 316 grade stainless steel security mesh.
Do you do Crimsafe?
“Crimsafe” is a brand name which is highly published in the media. For this reason many people have heard of it and used it to describe a security door where the security is built into the bug-screening mesh. This mesh is commonly made of a punched or woven sheet of stainless steel. There are other brand names on the market which offer this same concept. We use a produce called “SupaScreen” which is an Amplimesh product made by tightly weaving strands of stainless steel together. This is a high quality product with a 10 year guarantee and we believe it is superior to all other brands of similar products available on the market.
Do you do rollup or retractable flyscreens?
Yes we do. Retractable screens can be rolled vertically or horizontally over windows or doors or large openings. We can go up to 9 metres span in a double screen where the mesh is retained in zipline tracks.
Do you do fire screens?
Yes we do. We can manufacture fire rated security or fly-screening for both windows and doors. We can use bronze, aluminium or stainless steel fly-meshes for our flyscreens and diamond grill security screening products. Our Supascreen security automatically uses a 316 marine grade stainless steel woven security mesh, which is perfect for fire screening.
Do you do exit grilles or fire escape or opening grilles?
Yes we do. We make made to measure opening grilles in both hinged and sliding arrangements using either our diamond grill security or Supascreen options.
Do you offer midge screening options?
Yes. We have a fine weave mesh which has a smaller hole size than regular fly-mesh. This mesh can be used in normal fly-screens or in our diamond grill security screens. Our Supascreen is not designed for midges specifically, however is does offer a smaller hole size than some of the competitive brands on the market.
What options do you have for my pets who scratch at screens?
We offer a ‘pet protection’ mesh. This is a thicker more scratch resistant mesh. This mesh can be used in normal fly-screens or in our diamond grill security screens. Our Supascreen is not designed for pets specifically, however it is an option which your pets will not be able to destroy with their claws.

What is the difference between a blind and an awning?
A blind is any window or door covering used internally to block the doorway’s light and/or heat and/or to provide privacy for the occupants of the house or room. Many people refer to external fabric products as blinds. These products are called fabric awnings and are made of more weather-proof materials. Some blinds can be made for external use, such as shutters. These are altered to cope with being exposed to the elements but may look similar to products used inside. The general rule of thumb is internal products are blinds and external products are awnings.
